Eleven climbers died in a short period of time on their way to and from the summit, making it one of the deadliest climbing disasters ever. Fredrik Sträng, a Swedish mountaineer, shot the majority of the documentary footage. Sträng intended to make a documentary but was unable to complete it due to his failure to reach the peak. Because all of the climbers had various accounts of what transpired, the tape was nevertheless useful in determining what actually occurred.
