Two oddball Manhattanites meet cute at an ophthalmologist's office. Peter, a grumpy cartoonist/author, has declining vision, and Theresa, a divorced mother, is similarly hesitant to date. Both have dilated eyes, and Peter regularly lampoons women in his writing, something book seller Theresa knows well. The film is loosely based on James Thurber's drawings "The War Between Men and Women" and Thurber's life.
