After years of investigating serial killers, FBI agent Joel Campbell has become burned out and shell-shocked. He decides to leave Los Angeles and start a new life for himself in Chicago. David Allen Griffin is the only person who can be held responsible for the gruesome murders that take place in Joel's new hometown five months after he has moved in. Joel's best laid plans are jeopardized when his new hometown becomes the scene of some particularly gruesome murders that can only be the work of one man: David Allen Griffin. Griffin, one of Joel's most elusive and crafty adversaries, has tracked down his former pursuer and followed him to Chicago in order to engage in a sadistic game of cat and mouse. Griffin receives as much enjoyment from watching Joel react to every step as he does from watching his intended victims die. He taunts Joel with images of his intended victims and meticulously cleans up his murder scenes in order to keep the authorities at bay. After moving into Joel's inner circle, however, Joel must act quickly to prevent Griffin from assassinating another member of his family or close associates in the process.
