When his childhood friend Tommasso surprises actor Giuliano with a visit, the meeting is bittersweet. This is the first time they've seen each other in a long time. It happened because Giuliano's health was getting worse and he chose not to get treatment. Instead, he is putting his affairs in order by giving away his things, making up with people he has had problems with in the past, and, most importantly, finding a home for his beloved dog, Pato. Over the course of four days, the two men walk around Rome, going to bookstores, restaurants, vets, and friends' houses. They think about their lives and try to guess what the future will bring.
