In order to deal with her failing marriage to Tom, a stay-at-home dad, overachieving actress Rebecca (Moore) must confront her own insecurities (Duchovny). The film follows Rebecca and her brother, Tobey (Billy Crudup), as they navigate their relationship with Elaine (Elaine Stritch), an aspiring novelist who is dating Tobey's brother, Tobey (Billy Crudup) (Maggie Gyllenhaal).
