Keiko, who everyone refers to as Mama, tells her life story: she's a hostess on the Ginza, 30 years old, and a widow. She explains the cyclical nature of life, which includes being happy around drunks, needing money for these bills and for her demanding mother and brother, and realizing that she's getting older.
