Wondrous Boccaccio
It is the year 1348. Florence has been devastated by the plague. A group of then-young individuals, consisting of seven women and three men, rises up in defiance of the overwhelming sense of death that is going to overtake them. They evacuate the city and take sanctuary in an abandoned villa in the Tuscan hills, which has been abandoned for several years. They pass the time by telling each other stories while they wrestle with moral dilemmas and complete the duties necessary to survive until they make the decision to return. The stories are diverse-tragic, weird, hilarious, or sensual-but the female presence is consistent and fundamental to each and every one of them.
