There was an Alvin Show, which was televised in 1961–1962, followed by a second series, which ran from 1983–90. Three female Chipmunks, Miss Beatrice Miller, were introduced in the episode, along with their human guardian Miss Beatrice Miller. As of 1988, The Chipmunks was produced by DiC Enterprises and renamed simply "The Chipmunks". When the fifth season of The Adventures of the Chipmunks premiered in1987, The Samuel Goldwyn Company released the first Chipmunk feature film, The Chipmunk Adventure. The film was directed by Janice Karman and featured the Chipmunks and Chipettes in a worldwide competition. Finally, the show's eighth and final season renamed itself The Chipmunks Go to the Movies once again. Back to the Future and King Kong were parodies of Hollywood films in each episode. There were also a number of television specials starring the characters. The special Rockin' Through the Decades was released in 1990. Chipmunks linked up with other cartoon characters for a drug misuse prevention special called Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue in the year of the Chipmunks
