Anne returns to Avonlea for the first time since Marilla Cuthbert's death when she is in her twenties. Gilbert has been offered a job in a hospital in New York, and he talks Anne into going with him. He helps her get a job at a big publishing house. They weren't ready for life in a big city. Jack Garrison, a handsome American writer, steals Anne's manuscript. So, the stage is set for the last three hours of the "Anne of Green Gables" story, which will follow the characters from New York to the war effort in Europe and then back to the red earth of Prince Edward Island.
