Apparitions
Father Jacob Myers, portrayed by Martin Shaw in the BBC program Apparitions, is a Roman Catholic priest who performs exorcisms and evaluates miracle evidence for use in canonization. Jacob discovers that his responsibilities extend beyond simply returning devils to Hell; he must later prevent their escape. Apparitions is more spiritually correct and factual than the majority of fictional depictions of exorcism and spirit possession, embracing the Church's description of the nature of demonic possession. It also describes historical occurrences related with Christianity and other Abrahamic religions that may have been triggered by Heaven or Hell, indicating that the Biblical War may not have been totally resolved.
