The title character was "an old, saggy cloth cat, baggy and a little loose at the seams." Even though there were only 13 episodes of the show, it is still fondly remembered, and it was shown over and over again in the UK for thirteen years. In 1999, a BBC poll found that Bagpuss was the UK's favorite children's TV show.
