BattleBots is an American company that holds robot competitions. BattleBots is also the name of the TV show that was made from the videos of the competition. BattleBots Inc. is based in Vallejo, California, and most of its competitions take place in and around San Francisco. At a BattleBots event, the contestants are armed and armored machines that are controlled by remote and are made to fight in an arena-based elimination tournament. If both robots are still working at the end of the match, the winner is decided by a point system based on damage, aggression, and strategy. The American cable network Comedy Central ran the show BattleBots for five seasons, which covered five BattleBots tournaments. The first season started in August2000, and the fifth season started in August 2002. Bil Dwyer and Sean Salisbury were the hosts of BattleBots. Former Baywatch actresses Donna D'Errico, Carmen Electra, and Traci Bingham, former Playboy Playmate Heidi Mark, and identical twins Randy and Jason Sklar were among the correspondents. Bill Nye was the "technical expert" for the show. In late2002, Comedy Central ended their contract with BattleBots Inc. after five "seasons."
