Big Day is an American situation comedy that was first shown on ABC from November 28, 2006, to January 30, 2007. It was originally called "A Day in the Life." Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa worked together with Michael Spiller to make the series for Sony Pictures Television. The show was shown on CanWest's Global and CH stations in Canada. It was supposed to premiere on October 5, 2006, along with Notes from the Underbelly. However, ABC changed its schedule at the last minute and moved Ugly Betty to Thursday, replacing both sitcoms whose "buzz" wasn't very good. Big Day was on at 9:00/8:00c on Tuesdays. The Knights of Prosperity, another new sitcom with more "buzz," was supposed to fill the time slot, but ABC moved it to Wednesdays to give Big Day more attention. Big Day was a ratings disappointment, according to the ratings. When the first season of Big Day ended on January 30, 2007, only 12 of the 13 episodes that were made were shown. The 13th episode, called "The $10,000 Check," was not shown. ABC officially cancelled the show on May 15, 2007, after they announced their fall schedule for 2007-2008. A movie based on the show was in the works from 2007 to 2008, but it was canceled twice. In 2010, a new version of the movie is in the planning stages.
