Chuck Lorre made the American sitcom Cybill, which ran on CBS from January 2, 1995, until July 13, 1998. The show is about the life of Cybill Sheridan, played by Cybill Shepherd. She is a twice-divorced single mother of two in her 40s who has never gotten her big break in show business. Alan Rosenberg and Tom Wopat played the daughters of Sheridan, who were played by Alicia Witt and Dedee Pfeiffer. Christine Baranski played Cybill's hard-drinking friend Maryann. The show was made by Carsey-Werner Productions and YBYL Productions. The original executive producers were Shepherd, Lorre, Howard Gould, Jay Daniel, Marcy Carsey, and Tom Werner. During its run, Cybill won praise from critics and was nominated for twelve Emmy Awards. It also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy in 1996. Shepherd won her third Golden Globe Award for her performance, while Baranski won an Emmy, a SAG, and an American Comedy Award.
