Earth 2 is an American science fiction television series that aired from November 6, 1994 to June 4, 1995 on NBC. After 22 episodes in one season, the show was discontinued. It recounts the trip and settlement of a tiny expeditionary party known as the Eden Project, whose mission is to travel to an Earth-like planet named G889 in search of a treatment for a disease known as "the syndrome." The series was created by Michael Duggan, Carol Flint, Mark Levin, and Billy Ray, produced by Amblin Entertainment and Universal Television, and mostly filmed in northern New Mexico near Santa Fe. David Bergeaud scored the music for the series, which was produced by Michael Duggan, Mark Levin, and Carol Flint. Initially, the audience was relatively substantial, ranking seventh; but, by April 23 of the following year, the Nielsen ratings share had decreased from 23 percent to 9 percent. It was nominated for a Primetime Emmy, Saturn, and other honors during its run. The full series was released on DVD on four discs in 2005.
