Onizuka, a former gang leader and biker who aspires to be the best teacher in the world, has only one goal in life. As an intern teacher, he gains experience of the power and respect that are available to him. He does this by utilizing his strengths and connections to earn the respect of his students. Now that he has graduated, he has obtained a position at a prominent private school to manage a "problem class" that has caused a number of teachers in the past to resign. When the mischief-makers include some of the brightest children in Japan, who favor a more intellectual approach to tormenting their teacher, he is forced to deal with a different kind of mischief than he is accustomed to. It will take time for Onizuka to earn his students' trust and overcome their misgivings about authority figures in the classroom, all while overcoming the misgivings of his own colleagues.
