It is based on the Dutch-Belgian television series Het Huis Anubis, which was shown in the Netherlands and Belgium. The pilot episode of the series aired for the first time on Nickelodeon in the United States on January1,2011, while in the United Kingdom it first aired on February25,2011. The series was developed by Hans Bourlon and Gert Verhulst. The series is the first Nickelodeon production to be recorded outside of the United States. It is also the network's first original soap opera and the first soap opera on the channel focused specifically at children and teenagers. Beginning on the 25th of February, the show will be available to watch on TeenNick. Since then, the program has finished its third season, and as of the 28th of September in2013, Nickelodeon has not stated that the show will continue for a fourth season.
