Jack Taylor is an Irish TV drama based on a series of books by Ken Bruen. Iain Glen plays the title character, Jack Taylor, a former Garda Sochána officer who becomes a "finder" after leaving the force. The series takes place in Galway. Taylor is a man who looks for clues in places where no one else has bothered to look. He also knows the streets in his hometown like the back of his hand. The series was first shown on TV3 in Ireland on August2,2010, and then it was shown with Dutch subtitles on Canvas in Belgium. It made its UK debut on Channel 5 on February 21, 2013. The series is also available on DVD. It has gotten mixed reviews from critics. Bernice Harrison of The Irish Times thought Glen's voiceovers ruined the show because they made the character sound like a gumshoe in a film noir. But David Stephenson of the Daily Express said that the strong opening sequence of the first episode hooked him. In an interview with The Guardian's Laura Barnett, a real-life private investigator said that the show was entertaining, but that it didn't always give a true picture of his job.
