The story starts in 19th-century England, where young aristocrat Jonathan Joestar is at odds with Dio Brando, a poor boy whom Jonathan's father took in after Dio's father died. Dio is unhappy with where he is in life, and his unquenchable desire to rule over everyone drives him to seek out the supernatural powers of an ancient Aztec stone mask owned by the Joestars. This mask will change the lives of Dio and Jonathan for all time. In1938, in New York City, Jonathan's grandson Joseph Joestar must take up his grandfather's mission and learn the skills he needs to destroy the stone mask and its creators, the Pillar men, who are so powerful that they threaten the very existence of humanity.
