K-9 is a British and Australian comedy/adventure series that combines computer animation with live action to tell the story of the exploits of the robot dog K-9 from the television show Doctor Who. On Halloween2009, the first episode of the series was previewed on the satellite channel Disney XD in the UK and Ireland as a sneak preview of the series. Since October2010, the whole series has been broadcast on Network Ten in Australia, Disney XD in the United Kingdom and Ireland; Scandinavia, Poland, Italy, and The Netherlands; and Disney Channel CEE in Bulgaria, Romania, Moldava, Slovakia, Hungary, and The Czech Republic. A second series is currently in the process of being developed, and the first season is scheduled to be syndicated around the world. Currently, there are only two networks that have committed to airing the show: Channel 5 in the United Kingdom and Cartoon Network in New Zealand. Other networks are expected to join these two, but these have not been announced. In the United Kingdom, the first season was broadcast on Channel 5 during the months of December 2010 and April 2011. On December25,2012, the American cable channel Syfy began airing the series. To kick off the premiere, they aired the entirety of the first season in one continuous marathon.
