9 June 2007 marked the debut of Kick on SBS TV, an Australian television series. The story takes place in the Melbourne suburb of Brunswick. When Miki Mavros is forced to return to her Greek-Australian parents' house on Hope Street after a failed effort at "making it big," the series follows her experiences. Dr. Joe Mangeshkar, a sophisticated Anglo-Indian with a lover named Jan, hires Miki as his secretary, and things quickly spiral out of control. Kick refers to Miki's job as the manager of a local neighborhood soccer club. Salim family, an Australian Muslim family from Lebanon with four children: Amen (the oldest), Osama "Ozzy" (the youngest), Taghred (the middle), and Layla (the youngest). Amen is a budding entrepreneur with a murky moral compass. Tatiana, a friend of Taghred's, is a romantic interest for Osama, a normal adolescent in many ways. Taghred aspires to be the next Cristiano Ronaldo. Layla, a university student set to be married to Sharif, falls in love with fellow fencer Jackie, and the future of their marriage is forever altered.
