Kingdom is a British television series produced for the ITV network by Parallel Film and Television Productions. Simon Wheeler devised the show, which stars Stephen Fry as Peter Kingdom, a Norfolk solicitor who is dealing with family, coworkers, and weird people who come to him for legal advice. The first series of six one-hour episodes aired in 2007 and had a weekly audience of six million viewers. Despite a mid-season drop in ratings, ITV's executive chairman lauded the show and requested a second series, which was produced in 2007 and aired in January and February 2008. The third season was shot from July to September 2008, with the first episode airing on June 7, 2009. Stephen Fry indicated on his blog in October 2009 that ITV was canceling the series, which was later confirmed by the channel, which stated that more expensive shows were being canceled due to lower funds.
