Heo Yeon Woo, 13, is the daughter of a high-ranking official. She goes with her mother to the royal palace to celebrate her brother Heo Yeom's success on the civil service exam. She runs into Crown Prince Lee Hwon by happenstance. They fall in love, and Yeon Woo is picked to be the Crown Princess of Joseon. Before they can get married, the Dowager Queen orders her death in secret so that she can gain more power. Yeon Woo is cursed and gets sick because of it. Everyone, including Crown Prince Lee Hwon, thinks she is dead. After being hurt, he refuses to love anyone else. The young king meets a shaman named Wol eight years later. He can't help but notice that she is a lot like Yeon Woo, so he starts looking into how Yeon Woo died.
