Firefighters from the Los Angeles County Fire Department's Rescue Squad 8 are featured in a syndicated American action-drama series. It debuted in 1958 and ran for two seasons before being picked up for syndicated reruns for the next decade and a half. Lang Jeffries played Skip Johnson and Jim Davis played Wes Cameron, who would eventually be featured as Jock Ewing on CBS's Dallas. Nancy Rennick and Mary K. Cleary played Skip Johnson's wives and daughters, Patty and Susan, in a total of 24 episodes. Screen Gems was in charge of the show's production, and directors Dann Cahn and William Witney were responsible. Seventy-four half-hour episodes of Rescue 8 were created. Station 8 of the Los Angeles County Fire Department is located in West Hollywood, California, at 7643 West Santa Monica Boulevard. Unlike the subsequent television series Emergency!, Rescue 8 depicts more physical rescues as firefighters were not trained as paramedics until the early 1970s.
