Salatut elamat is a Finnish TV show that started on January25,1999, on MTV3. It was the first and, so far, only daily soap opera in Finland. Over 2,500 episodes have been shown in the series' 14-year run. On August 17, 2009, it was announced that Salatut elamat would be on the air until spring 2015. This makes it the second longest-running drama series in Finland, after Kotikatu on Yle TV1. The show is about the lives of several families who all live in the same Helsinki apartment building. The show is mostly about the people who live in Pihlajakatu and the areas around it. Only three of the twenty original characters (Seppo, Ismo, and Kalle) are still in the series. Most of the current characters made their first appearances in 2008 or later. Every weekend, MTV3 also shows old episodes of the show. In the summer, the channel shows repeats of the show. In the summer of2011, episodes from the seasons of 2006–2007 and 2007–2008 were shown. Romeo & Rafael Desperados came out in2008, Lillukanvarsia in2010–2011, Tuuliranta in2011–2012, and "Young Man Cash Man" in 2013.
