Shake It Up is a Disney Channel sitcom that airs in the United States. The show debuted on November 7, 2010. The program, created by Chris Thompson and starring Bella Thorne and Zendaya, follows CeCe Jones and Rocky Blue as they work as background dancers on a local show called Shake It Up Chicago. It also follows their on- and off-set misadventures, as well as their difficulties and rising social position at school. Davis Cleveland, Roshon Fegan, Adam Irigoyen, Kenton Duty, and Caroline Sunshine round out the series' major cast. The original plan for the show was for Disney to produce a female buddy comedy with a dancing component. On June 4, 2012, Disney Channel announced that Shake It Up had been extended for a third season and that Kenton Duty would not be a regular cast member but will make special guest appearances.
