Shipping Wars is an A&E reality television show that premiered on January 10, 2012. The show follows six independent carriers who have realized that they may make a fortune hauling products that standard carriers cannot or will not move. uShip, the world's largest online auction house for independent truckers, is also featured in the series. Marc Springer, Roy Garber, Jennifer Brennan, Jarrett Joyce, and Suzanne and Scott Bawcom are the featured carriers for Season 1. Beginning with Season 2, the Bawcoms are replaced by Christopher Hanna and Robbie Welsh. Season 3 premiered on December 12, 2012. Season 4 introduces new shippers Johnny Chavez and the team of Chelsea Grant and Courtney Aguilera. In a typical episode, the carriers bid in a reverse auction process on two jobs published on uShip. Each client has the choice of awarding the job to the lowest bidder or to a higher bidder based on previous client feedback. Ties are broken in favor of the carrier who has received the most positive responses on average. Winners pack their cargo and try to deliver it unharmed by the time set by the client. Client feedback ratings are displayed when the loads are delivered. At the end of the episode, the net profit or loss for each carrier is displayed on-screen, with expenses deducted from the bid amount to determine the overall profit or loss. A carrier may occasionally arrange to haul one or more additional loads on the same journey, with the extra money factored into his/her total.
