Sky King is an American adventure show that airs on radio and TV. Schuyler "Sky" King is the main character. He is a rancher and pilot in Arizona. The show was probably based on a real person from the 1930s named Jack Cones, who was known as the "Flying Constable" of Twentynine Palms in California's San Bernardino County. However, this claim has not been proven. Even though the show had a lot of western elements, King mostly used his plane, the Songbird, to catch criminals and spies and find lost hikers. Even though the planes changed over the course of the show, the last one was still called the Songbird without a number. Near the town of Grover, Arizona, King and his niece Penny lived on the Flying Crown Ranch. Penny and Clipper were also pilots, but they didn't have as much experience as their uncle, so they looked to him for advice and help. Sky put his trust in Penny to fly the Songbird because she was a good air racer and a licensed multi-engine pilot. Penny calls Clipper "my brother" in the third TV episode, so they are related. Herschel Burke Gilbert wrote most of the music for the play.
