Sophie
Sophie was a CBC television sitcom that ran from January 9, 2008 to March 23, 2009. Sophie Parker, an unmarried single mother and talent agent, is played by Natalie Brown. The show is an English-language translation of Sophie Paquin's show Les Hauts et les Bas on Télévision de Radio-Canada. Richard Blaimert and Jocelyn Deschênes, the same creative team behind the previous series, conceived and executive produced the show. Following the less successful Rumours, it was the CBC's second effort in as many years to develop an English adaptation of a successful series from its French sister network. The sitcom was purchased by ABC Family, a division of Disney-ABC Television Group in the United States, in February 2008. The network agreed to air the first 13 episodes of the show, as well as a second season option. The sitcom was canceled by CBC on March 27, 2009, due to low ratings.
