Jenny is also associated with Max Owens, a popular athlete and bully. The project is pitched as a coming-of-age tale, and Katzenberg and Grahame-Smith have compared it to a hybrid of the television series The Wonder Years and the movie Superbad. The debut of the pilot episode took place on June6,2010, while the final episode of the first season's run aired on August23, 2010. MTV decided not to continue airing The Hard Times of RJ Berger at the conclusion of its second season, which began on March24,2011, and lasted through May30,2011.
