Based on the Land Before Time film series created by Judy Freudberg and Tony Geiss, The Land Before Time is an animated television series. It was created by Ford Riley for Universal Animation Studios and Amblin Entertainment for television and debuted on YTV in Canada on January5, 2007 for a test run. After the DVD release of The Land Before Time XII: The Great Day of the Flyers, the series had its formal debut on Cartoon Network on March 5, 2007 in the United States. On April 16, 2007, it was broadcast on Boomerang in the United Kingdom. In May of 2007, it made its debut in Japan on Kids Station. The debut of the first season began on April 7, 2008 on Cartoon Network India. Since March2008, the show has not broadcast on Cartoon Network in the United States or YTV in Canada. It premiered on Spacetoon on January1,2011, following the closure of Spacetoon English and the rebranding of the Spacetoon Group. It aired on Tv Russia on May 2, 2009, after TV Russia Service Television had ceased transmissions. It was traditionally animated with computer-animated backdrops, as were the previous sequels beginning with The Land Before Time X: The Great Longneck Migration, along with the occasional usage of cel-shaded computer animation for wide views. Red Claw, an evil wicked Tyrannosaurus, and Screech and Thud, two henchman Velociraptors, are the primary antagonists of the series. The television series occurs after The Land Before Time XIII: The Wisdom of Friends.
