The New Avengers

The New Avengers is a British sci-fi spy drama that aired from 1976 to 1977 on ITV. Developed by the original series producers Albert Fennell and Brian Clemens, it is a continuation of the 1960s series, The Avengers. Pinewood Studios in England charged £125,000 per episode to produce the show for the ITV network, which was broadcast in 120 countries across the world by The Avengers Enterprises Ltd. The series follows the adventures of John Steed and his team of "Avengers" as they battle evil conspiracies for global domination. It is a collaborative British-French-Canadian production. Unlike the original series, Steed had two companions in the new series: Mike Gambit, a top agent, a trained martial artist, and Purdey, a former trainee with the Royal Ballet who was an amalgam of several of Steed's female colleagues in The Avengers.
