When it was first aired on the Seven Network in 1989, "The Power, the Passion" was a daytime soap opera. The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless were intended to be competition for this show, but after 168 episodes, the ratings were so low that the show was canceled. It included Kevin Miles, Olivia Hamnett, Ian Rawlings, Danny Roberts, Jill Forster, George Mallaby and Nick Carrafa as well as Allan Cassell and Ross Thompson on his TV debut.
