Reality television series The Real Housewives of Vancouver airs on the Slice cable network in Canada. Production on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for Shaw Media began in August 2011 and it is the first Canadian chapter of the franchise. The first episode aired on April 4, 2012, at 9 p.m. Eastern/Pacific Standard Time. With 1.2 million viewers tuning in for the two-hour premiere, it broke the network's all-time ratings record. The show got renewed for a second season on May 30, 2012. Jody Claman, Mary Zilba, Ronnie Seterdahl Negus, and Amanda Hansen joined forces with newcomers Ioulia Reynolds, and Robin Richmond Reichman to begin filming Season 2 in July 2012. Episodes of the second season aired on February 5th at 10pm ET/PT. For the second season, Slice decided to forego a reunion in favor of providing more episodes rather than having to shorten the season. Shaw Media, the corporation that owns Slice, declared on June 6 that it had put the show "on hold" while it looked into other options.
