The Ricky Gervais Show is an American animated television series created and broadcast by HBO and Channel 4. The show is an animated adaptation of the popular British audio podcasts and audiobooks of the same name, which feature Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, as well as colleague and friend Karl Pilkington, chatting about various topics behind the microphone. The TV show is made out of old audio recordings of these unscripted "pointless chats," with animation done in the style of classic Hanna-Barbera cartoons, portraying gags and situations in a literal context. Since its debut in2010, the animated Ricky Gervais Show has aired 39 episodes spanning three seasons. There were some ideas for a fourth season that would have utilised newly recorded audio, but this was scrapped in June 2012. The Ricky Gervais Show Season 3 premiered on HBO on April20,2012, and on E4 on May8, 2012.
