It's NBC's morning show, Today, which airs everyday. Date of First Airing: January14, 1952 On American television and the world, it was the first of its kind, and the fifth-longest running American television series. A two-hour show on weekdays was expanded to Sundays and Saturdays in 1987 and1992, respectively. In the year2000, the program was extended to three hours and then to four hours on weekdays. In the late 1980s, ABC's Good Morning America overtook ABC's Today as the most-watched morning show. There were 852 consecutive weeks from December11, 1995 to April9, 2012 when Today was beaten by Good Morning America yet again in Nielsen ratings. TV Guide's list of the 50 greatest shows ever in 2002 included Today at number 17.
