Urban Legends is a 30-minute documentary-style television programme hosted by Michael Allcock in 2007. David Hewlett assumed his new role as host in 2011. In each episode, three urban legends are dramatized and presented to the audience, who is then asked to determine which one or two are true. There are witnesses to relate the tale of each legend. In one or two false stories, the witnesses are actors, whereas in the true version, they are actual people whose lives were changed by the events. Before the commercial breaks of each program, two mini-myths are aired. Each will begin with the number and name of the mini-myth, then the story. Following the commercial, the solution to the mini-myth is revealed, and the remainder of the program resumes as before. The show initially broadcast on the Biography Channel in the United States, History Television in Canada, and FX in the United Kingdom, where Mark Dolan was the host. Additionally, it has been broadcast in Argentina, New Zealand, Sweden, Norway, Australia, Finland, Estonia, The Netherlands, Russia, Hungary, and Denmark. The series briefly returned to the Syfy network as a "Original Series" with new episodes beginning on Monday, April18,2011, and then returned to its regularly scheduled time slot on Fridays at 10 p.m. David Hewlett from Stargate narrated the restored episodes, which were otherwise identical to the originals. Reruns and mini-marathons of the show are now periodically broadcast on both SyFy and Chiller.
