Maxine never made it big as a member of the female group Variety, but she is still feverishly pursuing her dream as the (failed) music manager for the teenage pop group Sweet Gyal. However, Maxine faces a problem when Sweet Gyal threaten to drop her due to her embarrassing attempts to earn them a record deal and her attempts to live vicariously via them.
