The Canadian and American TV show War of the Worlds is a science fiction show that ran for two seasons, from October 10, 1988, to May 14, 1990. The series is a continuation of the 1953 movie The War of the Worlds. It uses the same War Machine and often uses parts of the story from the movie, the radio version, and the original novel. Even though the original film's producer, George Pal, had an idea for a TV series based on the same film sometime in the 1970s, it wasn't until the late 1980s that a series was finally made, this time by television producer Greg Strangis. At the time, there was a lot of growth in the number of first-run, syndicated TV shows. After that, it was shown again and again on the Sci Fi Channel. The show was shot in both Los Angeles, California, and Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
