American situation comedy Webster was on ABC from September16, 1983 to May8, 1987 and in first-run syndication from September21, 1987 to March10,1989. Webster was a hit with audiences and critics alike during its run. Stu Silver, the series' creator, was behind it. As a young boy who has lost both of his parents, Emmanuel Lewis plays the character of a boy who is adopted by his NFL-pro godfather Alex Karras and his new socialite wife Susan Clark. Despite the fact that this impulsively wedded couple had to adapt to their new life and become parents, Webster was the driving force for the story. GBL, ELE and Paramount Television collaborated in the show's production as did Emmanuel Lewis Entertainment and Emmanuel Lewis Entertainment Enterprises. Webster, like NBC's earlier success Diff'rent Strokes, featured an adopted young African-American kid.
