What's Happening!!

What's Happening!! is a popular sitcom that was broadcast on ABC in the United States from August 5, 1976, all the way through April 28, 1979. The show was initially scheduled to air throughout the summer months. What's Happening!! made its triumphant return to television as a regular series in November 1976, following the cancellation of a number of other programs on the network that had previously received positive ratings and critical acclaim. The show continued to air on a regular basis until 1979, although receiving just average ratings. The feature film What's Happening!! was largely inspired by the screenplay that Eric Monte had previously developed for the film Cooley High.
