A few years after her mother died, Tennie's reputation at school takes a big hit before the prom. To make things even more difficult for her, her father, Robert, an advertising executive who has since rebuilt his business, tries to do the same thing with his relationship with his daughter, who is now 15. When Robert is too eager, he tries very hard to get close to Tennie by showing how he cares in his own unique way. To find out about his daughter's personal life, he hires a new driver/intern who is 19 years old. Jack is going to help him. As a result of being raised by her extended family, Tennie is very smart and mature for her age, but she also has a sense of humor and a little rebelliousness. Afterwards, Tennie realizes that in order to get her father off of her back, she needs to convince him to find a woman.
