A League of Their Own

As the number of athletic young men in the U.S. drops during World War II, a professional all-female baseball league starts up in the Midwest. It is backed by the publicity-hungry candy maker Walter Harvey (Garry Marshall). On their way to fame, competitive sisters Dottie Hinson (Geena Davis) and Kit Keller (Lori Petty) fight with each other, scout Ernie Capadino (Jon Lovitz), and grumpy former coach Jimmy Dugan (Tom Hanks). Madonna and Rosie O'Donnell play two of the sisters' teammates.
