Teenagers in a small town are committing suicide at an alarming rate, reportedly as a result of widespread hysteria. Nancy Thompson, the daughter of a police officer, attributes the incident to child molester Fred Krueger, who was burned to death by his parents many years ago. Now, Krueger has reappeared in the nightmares of his murderers' children, seizing their lives as his revenge. Nancy and her lover Glen must design a strategy to draw the monster from the realm of nightmares into the real world...
