All the Mornings of the World

The year is late 17th century. Monsieur de Sainte Colombe, a viola da gamba player, returns home to discover that his wife has died while he was away. In his sadness, he builds a little house in his yard into which he moves to devote his life to music and his two young daughters Madeleine and Toinette, avoiding the outer world. The rumor about him and his music is spreading, even reaching the court of Louis XIV, who wants him at his court in Lully's orchestra, but Monsieur de Sainte Colombe refuses. Marin Marais, a young guy, comes to him one day with a request: he wants to learn how to play the violin.
