American Revolution 2

The political demonstrations that took place at the 1968 Democratic Convention are seen in the opening sequence of American Revolution 2, along with video of the aggressive reaction of the Chicago Police Department and the National Guard. The filmmakers follow members of the Chicago branch of the Black Panther Party as they hunt for common ground with a range of white activist groups in order to investigate the lack of an African American presence at the protests. Members of the Young Patriots (white Appalachian activists who live in Chicago's Uptown district) unite to protest police brutality in a scenario. The seemingly unrelated groups discover that they have similar social and political goals, which allow them to look past their racial differences and work together to address issues like as poverty, lack of job, and substandard living circumstances. The movie depicts a lovely but unattainable dream: the formation of a political movement that unites people of different races and ethnicities.
