Mike, an apparently helpless and lazy stoner, is the protagonist of the fast-paced action comedy American Ultra. Mike's existence in a tiny town with his live-in girlfriend Phoebe is abruptly turned upside down. Mike is actually a highly skilled and dangerous sleeper spy, but he has no idea about this fact. Mike finds himself in the heart of a dangerous government operation in the blink of an eye, just as his dark history comes back to haunt him, and he is forced to call upon his inner action hero in order to live.
