After the Second World War, Paris: GI Jerry Mulligan stays in Paris after falling in love at first sight with a mademoiselle. As a stranger, Jerry meets pianist Adam Hochberg, who, unbeknownst to Jerry, has a crush on the same woman. The two of them must collaborate for a ballett with said woman, who has been promised to Henri Baurel. Henri also meets Jerry and Adam.
