Beauty and the Bastard

A modern Finnish film about two polar opposite young people who meet by chance and form a musical duo and fall in love. Nelli's parents have her future all out, but all she wants to do is sing. She meets the young, gritty Hip Hop musician Sunen by happenstance at the studio and begs him to produce a demo tape for her. The resulting tale is not only a good one, but also an excellent illustration of how close two people can become despite their many differences and the many challenges they must face together. As an added bonus, the music is superbly crafted. It's hard to believe this is the director's debut picture.
