Blood & Flesh: The Reel Life & Ghastly Death of Al Adamson

BLOOD & FLESH is much more than the story of an extraordinary filmmaking career brought to life by archive materials and the reflections of more than 40 colleagues, friends, and admirers. It portrays beautifully the worlds of California's outsider filmmaker communities in the 1970s, as well as the strange ways in which they intersected with Hollywood and union indies. On Adamson shoots, the normal Orson Welles team and cinematographers such as Gary Graver, Vilmos Szigmond, and Lazslo Kovaks collaborated with Bud Cardos–and at one point, Charles Manson! Director David Gregory (founder of Severin Films, director of LOST SOUL: THE DOOMED JOURNEY OF RICHARD STANLEY'S ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU) spent years making this film, speaking to everyone down to the cops who investigated Adamson's murder, vividly capturing both a daring life and tragic demise, with alien conspiracies, go-go dancers, and Colonel Sanders thrown in for good measure. Those with even a passing interest in cinema should see this.
